One Removal, Start to Finish

Urban Tree crew removing a large hardwood on a sloped Twin Cities property, 2026. Silent by design; the on-screen text is the narration.

What you’re watching

0:01   The assessment. A large hardwood on a slope, a fence line below it, and no clean drop zone

0:08   The setup. Branded trucks, rigging, and a crew that has done this before

0:16   The cutting. Deliberate, sectioned, and slower than you would expect

0:25   The property. Where the crew puts its feet is most of the difference in your bill

0:35   The clearing. Brush chipped and hauled as the job goes, not piled for later

0:44   The finish. The reason the neighbours ask who we are

The Job in the Video

Why This One Was Harder Than It Looks

A tree on a flat, open lawn is a straightforward job. This one was not on a flat, open lawn. It was on a slope, above a fence line, with a mown yard on all sides that the homeowner expected to still have when we left. That combination is what decides whether a removal takes half a day or two days, and it is the single biggest driver of what a removal costs.

Four things you can see in the footage that are not obvious unless you know to look for them:

1. The drop zone was chosen before the first cut.

Every limb that comes off has somewhere to go that is not the fence and not the lawn.

2. The tree comes apart in sections, not in one piece.

Slower, more rope work, and the only way to control where the weight goes on a slope.

3. Brush is chipped as the job goes.

A brush pile left for the end is a brush pile that flattens the grass under it.

4. Nobody is standing under the load.

Watch where the crew is relative to what is moving. That is training, and it is the reason our insurance stays affordable and your property stays intact.

The Part That Doesn’t Film Well

It Looks Easy Because It Was Planned

The footage makes this look routine, and that is the honest result of doing it right. The decisions that made it routine were made before anyone started a saw: which way the tree wants to fall, what is under it, what the wood is actually like inside, and whether it needs to come down at all.

That last one costs us jobs, and we ask it anyway.

“They stick to their estimates and there are no surprises… They’ve taken down some huge trees for me in tight spots without any damage.”

Alex Molldrem · Google review

★★★★★

“He saved me a bundle by suggesting ways to save a tree rather than take it down. He had a true appreciation for the trees, especially my ancient hackberry.”
